The Signature Theatre Company revival of David Henry Hwang's Golden Child has extended its limited run at off-Broadway’s Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre. Directed by Leigh Silverman, the production will now run through December 9, instead of the inital December 2 closing date. Golden Child will begin performances October 23, with an official opening night on November 13 at the Pershing Square Signature Center.
Golden Child stars Greg Watanabe as Grandson/Eng Tieng-Bin, Jennifer Lim as Eng Luan, Second Wife, Tony nominee Julyana Soelistyo as Eng Siu-Young, First Wife, Matthew Maher as Reverend Baines, Lesley Hu as Eng Eling, Third Wife, Annie Q as Eng Ahn, Tina Chilip as Servant/Ghost and Nadia Gan as Servant/Ghost. The play tells the story of a Chinese businessman (Watanabe), who, after three years working abroad, sets off a dangerous power struggle in his polygamous Chinese household. Golden Child explores the often-painful struggle of a Chinese family faced with the change of Westernization.
